Eleanor Schmidt, 95, of Port Edwards, passed away on Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home.

She was born on March 7, 1923, in Grenner, North Dakota, to the late Earl and Marie (Kaatz) Ames. On March 29, 1941, her marriage to Richard Schmidt took place in Prentice, Wisconsin. Richard passed away on Jan. 16, 1994.

Eleanor had worked as a cook and was a member of Spirit American Legion Post No. 452 and St. Luke's Women's Circle (Lydia Circle).

Survivors include her daughter, Judith (Ronald) Ross of Bullhead City, Arizona; son, Kenneth (Mary Beth) Schmidt of Green Valley, Arizona; grandsons, James Schmidt of Austin, Texas, and Joseph Schmidt of Arpin, Wisconsin; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Jasmine Schmidt of Arpin; two sisters and two brothers, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by her son, Ronald; and three sisters and five brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Eleanor's name may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids.

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. The Rev. Dr. Carlton Andersen and Rev. Ryan Clark will co-officiate. Burial will follow in the Port Edwards Village Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 12 noon until the time of service.
