Ronald R. Schmidt, 69, of 7726 County Trunk N, Arpin, died early Monday, May 16, 2011, at The House of Dove in Marshfield.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19, at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. The Rev. Timothy Wenger will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Post No. 9.
Ronald was born in Rib Lake on Dec. 14, 1941, to Richard and Eleanor (Ames) Schmidt. He married Helen (Svoboda) in 1962 in Wisconsin Rapids. She died Aug. 9, 1988.
He was employed by Bruener's Timber Products as a pallet machine operator until he retired in 2010.
Ronald served his country as an E5 sergeant in the Marines from 1966 to 1970.
He is survived by his mother, Eleanor Schmidt of Port Edwards; his two sons, Joe (significant other, Lynn Braunsky) of Arpin and James Schmidt of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Jackson and Jasmine of Arpin; former daughter-in-law, Bobbi Joe Schmidt of Stratford; sister, Judy (Ronnie) Moxon of Rib Lake; and brother, Kenneth (Mary Beth) of Green Valley, Ariz. He was predeceased by his father, Richard; and his wife, Helen.
