A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Mitch and Minnie Rogers Sluder. He retired from N.C. State Highway Dept.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Ledford Sluder; two daughters, Margaret S. Coe and Brenda F. Sluder of Asheville; son, Daniel C. Sluder of Leicester, five sisters, Willa Mae Silvers and Zinnie Bridges of Leicester, Annie Fender of Swannanoa, Bertha Shelton of Asheville, Edna Ballard of Skyland; four brothers, Kenneth and William Sluder of Leicester, Floyd Sluder of Asheville, Roy Sluder of Marion; seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Burial will be in French Broad Baptist Church Cemetery.
