A native of Madison County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Mitchell and Minnie Rogers Sluder and was also preceded in death by her husband, Wade Shelton; a daughter, Betty Lee Shelton; sisters, Zelma Parris, Jessie Radcliff, Edna Ballard, Willa Mae Silvers, Annie Fender and Zinnie Bridges; brothers Edwin, Charlie, Floyd and Kenneth Sluder. She was retired from Bon Ton Cleaners where she worked as a seamstress and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

Mrs. Shelton is survived by a daughter, Ginger Gregg and her husband Charles of Leicester; three sons, Conley Shelton of Fletcher, Mitch Shelton of Candler and Paul Shelton of Skyland; a brother, William Sluder of Leicester; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Jennis Sluder and Gary Fender officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Gregg, Kevin Gregg, Tracy Gregg, J.R. Shelton, Steve Shelton and Steve Hensley.
