Archie was born January 28, 1913 to Ernest Austin & Mayme Strayer. He is the grandson of Cyrus "Henry" & Margaret Ellen (Niceschwander) Strayer, great grandson of Miley & Elmira Strayer and great great grandson of Martin & Rachel (Ralya) Strayer.
Mr. Strayer was a retired painter and paper hanger. A former resident of McCook, Nebraska, he moved to the area 7 1/2 years ago. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in McCook. He Married Venus Anita Williamson June 17, 1939 in Nebraska.
Surviors include his wife, Venus, of the home, two sons Kent & Kim of Omaha, Nebraska, five daughters Kay Banick of Cherry Valley, California, Karen Nichols of Scotts Bluff, Nebraska, Karole Hutcheson of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Kerry Herrod of Elmore City, Oklahoma, one brother Harold Strayer of Greeley, Colorado, one sister Lila Herbert of Seatle, Washington, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday (May 29) at the Treasure Lake Clubhouse with Gene Maples officiating. The body has been cremated and services are under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home of Branson.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southwest Missouri in care of the funeral home.
