Clarence Cyrus Strayer, 56, engineer on the C. B. & Q Railroad since 1937 died unexpectedly Sunday evening in Hastings. He was born June 15, 1911 at Red Cloud.
Mr. Strayer was a member of the First congregational church, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Burlington Veterans and was a World War II Veteran.
Survivors include his widow, Emma; two brothers, Harold of Greeley, Colorado and Archie of McCook and three sisters.
Funeral services will e at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Congregational Church with the Rev. John G. Craig officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Breland Funeral Chapel. There will be a Military committal service at the cemetery.

Clarence is the son of Ernest Austin & Mayme Strayer, grandson of Cyrus "Henry" & Margaret Ellen (Niceschwander) Strayer, great grandson of Miley & Elmira Strayer and great great grandson of Martin & Rachel (Ralya) Strayer.
Clarence married Emma Caroline Wiese December 8, 1945 in Belleville, Illinois.
