Catherine was the d/o William and Nancy Holcomb Rogers. She married John Etherton on Feb. 2, 1822 in KY. She was the mother of 14 children.

"In 1983 when I visited the grounds where the Etherton homestead once stood the family cemetery was located. The gravestone for Catherine, the mother of this large family, was found and those of four children who died at young ages. Her stone was on the ground and broken in two pieces. It was in near bad condition, but most of the inscription could be read. You could tell that the design at one time was lovely. It was of clasped hands with male and female cuffs and the enclosure was surrounded on the top and sides by large scallops. Above this was an arrangement of what appeared to be flowers and a garland of flowers flowed down the right side of the stone beside the inscription. Inscribed: Catherine (Catharine on the stone), wife of J. Etherton, Died Jan. 12, 186_, Aged 62y 1m 6d. An epitaph followed. The burial ground is unprotected and cattle have the run. Louise Taraba 47677075, a 3rd Great Granddaughter, 8/2015."
