George Holcombe Rogers was the son of William Rogers and Nancy Holcombe. He was Sheriff of Clay County, Kentucky in 1839. He left Kentucky with his family for Daviess County in the fall of 1848 and settled on a farm. George became an extensive land owner around Gallatin, Missouri where he lived until his death. He is buried on what once was part of the Rogers farm.
