Mr. Samuel W. "Mr. Sam" Galbreath, age 61, of 5050 Lyons-Center Road, Vidalia, died Wednesday morning, June 26, 1996, at his residence after an extended illness.

A native and lifelong resident of Toombs County, he was a Class A Tool and Die Maker, a U.S. Army veteran, a past city councilman of the city of Santa Claus and a member of the New Corinth Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Nan Galbreath, Vidalia; two sons, Tim and Richard Galbreath, Vidalia; two daughters, Mary Willis and Tina G. Howell, Vidalia; an adopted daughter, Mary Jones, Winter Park, Florida; three brothers, Dan Galbreath, Vidalia, Everette Booth, Lyons and Bob Booth, Alexandria, Virginia; seven sisters, Pearl Whitfield, Margarette Morrison and Ethel Bennett, Vidalia, Martha Nell Austin, Burlington, West Virginia, Libby Ruis, Jacksonville, Florida, Sara Hitchcock, Cedar Crossing and Betty Hope, Brunswick; seven grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, June 28, at 4:30 p.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia, with Rev. Bob Corley officiating. Interment followed in the Galbreath Cemetery. Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service of Vidalia was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Active pallbearers were Bill Galbreath, David Galbreath, Buddy Turner, Hilburn Galbreath, Wendell Manning, and Laymond Cooper. Honorary pallbearers were G.P. Tippett, Tommy Proctor, Troy Trull, S.L. Galbreath, Carl Manning, Herbert Copeland, Hugh Galbreath, Bernard Harden and Ike Galbreath.
