Alice Amanda Eiler was born May 18, 1853, in Woodsboro District, Frederick County, Maryland, the daughter of Josiah and Catharine Elizabeth Snook Eiler. Her paternal grandparents were John and Catharina Miller Eiler. On November 7, 1872, in Frederick County, she married Grayson Howard Valentine, son of William and Lydia Mehring Valentine. They were the parents of at least 5 children: Charles Howard, Maggie Cordelia, Ivy Alice, Ira Josiah and Edith Catherine Valentine. Alice passed away on August 30, 1922, in Rocky Ridge, Frederick County, and was buried in Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery there.
