Ivy Alice Valentine was born June 5, 1878, in Rocky Ridge, Frederick County, Maryland, daughter of Grayson Howard and Alice Amanda Eiler Valentine. Her grandparents were William and Lydia Mehring Valentine, and Josiah and Catharine Elizabeth Snook Eiler. On December 2, 1902, in Woodsboro, Frederick County, she married William Oscar Grabill, son of Moses Ulysses and Sophia Elizabeth Murphy Grabill. They were the parents of one daughter, Alice Sophia Grabill. Ivy passed away September 30, 1910, in Rocky Ridge, and was buried on October 3rd in Haugh's Church Cemetery, Ladiesburg, Frederick County, Maryland.

"Mrs. Ivy Grabill, wife of Mr. Wm. Grabill, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Valentine, died at her home near Rocky Ridge about 10 p. m. Friday, September 30, of a complications of diseases, aged 32 years, 3 months, and 25 days. Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Alice Grabill, aged 4 years. She is also survived by her father and mother, two sisters and two brothers, Mr. Charles Valentine, of Detour; Mrs. Delia Boone, of Johnsville; Mr. Ira Valentine and Mrs. Edith Keilholtz, of Rocky Ridge. The funeral took place the following Monday afternoon."
