Truss was the son of Alexander David "Sandy" McDaniel and Martha (Stubbs) McDaniel.

Truss married Mary Ann Richardson in 1858. No record of the date or place of marriage. They had four children.

1--G.W. "Buddy" [1859-????]
2--Sarah Frances "Frankie" [1861-????]
3--Lydia [????-????]
4--Herbert [????-????]

Truss was serving in the Confederacy when he contacted the measles. He was sent home to recuperate where he died of complications and phenumonia.

Truss is buried in an unmarked grave. We do not have a picture of Truss. If someone has a picture of him and would like to add it to his Memorial, please do.

In 1870, Mary Ann remarried a man by the name of Park Miles Walton and had several children.
