James "Jim" was the son of Alexander David "Sandy" McDaniel and Martha (Stubbs) McDaniel.

James was first married to a lady by the name of Martha (Unknown). No information on Martha, other than she died about 1860 in Smith County, Mississippi. They had three children.

2--Josiah [1850-????]
3--Sarah Jane [1851-1910]

After the death of Martha, James married Eliza Ann McCarty on March 15, 1863 in Smith County, Mississippi. Together they had nine children.

2--James Thomas "Tom" [1868-1927]
3--C. Triss [1869-????]
4--Unknown McDaniel [????-????]
5--Georgia [1872-1892]
6--Callie [1874-????]
7--William "Willie" P. [1875-????]
