Lucille Austin, 5, daughter of Robert Austin, night clerk at the Exchange Hotel, was a victim of lightning as she and her mother hurried from a neighbor's house to their home in the Uniontown settlement shortly after 7 pm. She was knocked unconscious as the flash struck a nearby tree, felling it. Dr. C. M. Wilson was called and the child was revived.
