RUSSELL---- Joseph F. Hertel,54, died Feb.23,1987 at Russell. Born Sept.5,1932 at Ness City, the son of Alexander and Margaret(Pfannenstiel)Hertel. He married Delores Munsch on Oct.24,1953 at Schoenchen. He was a general laborer and a former resident of Ness City,KS.

He was a member of the American Legion of Russell and was an Army veteran.

Survivors: sons, Glenn of Ellinwood,KS, Rex and Jeff both of Schoenchen; daughters, Jolene Zimmerman of Schoenchen, Becky Wachs and Karen Spanier both of Hays,KS.; brothers, Edmund and Wilfred of Ness City,Ks, Edwin and ALfred of Dodge City,KS; sisters, Martina Burkhart of Spearville,KS, Regina Dome of Dodge City, Mary Dinkel of Victoria,KS and Agnes Beckerdite of Kingsdown,KS; four grandchildren.

Funeral was held at Sacred Heart Church of Ness City,KS with Father Joseph Bahr presiding. Fitzgerald Funeral Home of Ness City was in charge of arrangements.
