Charles L. Ehler, 74, of Rio, died at 1:08 A.M. , Monday, September 2, 1991, at St Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
Born August 7, 1917 in Tamaroa, IL to Warren and Anna (Marlow) Ehler, he married Virginia Dennis February 10, 1937, in Pinckneyville.
She survives as well as two daughters, Barbara Leafgreen and Lolly Swanson, both of Rio; one son Leslie of Knoxville; four sisters, Hope Ehler, Lola Moore, Grace Huggins and Lillian Fisher, all of Tamaroa; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
He lived in Rio since 1941. He was employed by Alpha Coal Mine for 20 years and later worked at International Harvester in Moline, Rowe Manufacturing in Galesburg and Admirals in Galesburg, retiring from the latter in 1982.
He was formerly active on the Rio Fire Department and the Rio Baptist Cemetery Board.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Alpha with Rev. Allen Reed officiating. Visitation is at 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Baptist Cemetery in Rio.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donors choice.
