James Titus, aged 69, one of the best known farmers in Hickory Township, died at the family home at 5:30 this morning after an extended illness from cancer of the stomach. News of his death has occasioned widespread sorrow as he was held in the highest regard by all. Mr. Titus was born in Hickory Township, a member of one of the pioneer families and had spent his whole life there. He had always followed farming and had been successful. Surviving him are his widow and the following children: Mrs. Frank Lary of Spruce street; F. Burt Titus of Orangeville; Mrs. Frank Jones of Spruce street; Mrs. T. A. Bailey of Maple avenue; John M. Titus of Sharpsville, and Mrs. George Rettig of Buhl Farm. He also leaves one brother, former County Commissioner Isaiah Titus and a sister, Mrs. J. M. Everhart of Monticello, Iowa. The funeral will be held from the family home Monday at 2 p.m. Rev. H. E. Phipps of the Oakland Avenue M. E. Church will officiate, and interment will be made in Morefield Cemetery. {herald}
