Ruthie Edna was the second child and first daughter of W.R. & Lizzie Underwood and the first grand-daughter of Andrew Thomas & Mary M. Ricketts Underwood. Ruthie was a twin sister to Robert Edwin who was born premature living only two days.

Ruthie's father W.R. Underwood first bought land near Deport in Red River Co., TX., but the relatives lived all around at Old Cherry Community, Fulbright and Bagota. Ruthie & Robert are assumed to be buried near relatives, although the exact burial place is unknown.
