Leavie Ilgia was born January 17, 1892, in Mountaindale, a daughter of Cornelius Isaiah (Isaac) and Mary Frances Shankle Rice of Mountaindale and married Franklin Keefer Whipp, February 24, 1909.

Leavie was the mother ofd tree sons, Austin Franklin Whipp, Arthur Keefer Whipp and Richard Milton Whipp.

After the death of Arthurs first wife, Leavie also raised her grandson Arthur "Lee" Whipp.

Leavie was a sister to the following siblings, Annie Sophie Eyler and husband Charles Grayson, Ruyann "Ruie" May Pearl and husband Charles J., Grace Elizabeth Eaton and husband Samuel Coleman, Keefer Cornelius Rice and wife Blanche Gertrude, Jennie Irene Wachter and husband Millard Richard,Pirson Silas Rice and wife Lillie May, Eli Edward Rice and wife Anna May Ruth, Sadie Catherine Shankle and husband Dennis Merhl, Susie Frances Hewitt and husband Alonzo William. She was predeceased by three siblings that did not reach maturity, a sister, Rosa B. Rice, an infant, James and Franklin "Elmer" Rice a toddler.
