Mabel Gertrude and twin brother Frank Percival were the eleventh and twelfth children of Joseph and Emma Sperry. The family lived at 822 Tasker Street in Philadelphia's 1st Ward. Mabel lived two months and died from cholera infantus. She was buried June 13th at Machpelah Cemetery.

The second oldest cemetery in Philadelphia, Machpelah opened in the 1830s and closed in the 1890s. Most remains were reburied in a mass grave in commingled boxes at Graceland Cemetery. No records are known to exist of the removals from Machpelah to Graceland.
