"Mrs. Ella Bend Parks, 85, of Waterman died Wednesday, February 18, 1959, at DeKalb Public Hospital. She had been a patient at the hospital for a week.
She was born in Victor Township October 8, 1873, daughter of Louis and Jane Sturgis Bend. She was educated in the Leland schools and February 12, 1894 married Arthur L. Parks in Victor Township.
She was a member of the Waterman Methodist Church, the Women's Society of Christian service, the Waterman Women's Club and the Leland Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are a son, Shelby H. Parks of Waterman; three daughters, Mrs. Alta Smiley of Waterman, Mrs. Ada Christian of Mesa, AZ and Mrs. Jane Ringe of Batavia; 15 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
Her husband and one daughter preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Waterman Methodist Church with the Rev. L. D. McGladrey officiating. Burial was in Leland Cemetery."
