Is Taken By Death In Eureka


J. Stanley Chalmers, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Chalmers of Napa and a former highly esteemed resident of this city, passed away yesterday afternoon in a hospital at Eureka.

His death followed shortly after a capital operation. Details of his last illness have not been received here.

Deceased was a native of Napa and was 49 years of age. He was educated in Napa and was reared to manhood here. It was in this city that he was married to Miss Lina Brown, the sorrow-stricken widow left to mourn his untimely end.

Leaving Napa some twenty years ago Mr. Chalmers went to Mendocino County to enter the lumber business and establish his home. He had resided in Mendocino and Humboldt counties ever since.

Besides his widow, his parents Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Chalmers of Napa and four sisters and a brother survive: Mrs. Gertrude Tanner, Mrs. Will Davis and Mrs. Frank McReynolds of Napa, Mrs. Fred Barnewitz of Vallejo, and A. E. Chalmers of Mendocino City.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Woodmen of the World in Mendocino.

The remains will be brought to Napa for burial. Notice of time of funeral later.
