Mary T. Scieszinski, 77, of Melrose died April 7, 1984 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

She was born May 28, 1906, at Melrose, the daughter of William and Teresa Fitzgerald Scieszinski. A graduate of Melrose High School and Drake University in Des Moines, she taught school in Monroe, Lucas and Polk counties for 45 years. She was a member of St. Patrick's in Melrose, the Altar and Rosary Society and a life member of the Iowa State Teachers Association.

Surviving are two brothers, William Scieszinski of Janesville, Wis. and Maurice Scieszinski of Melrose, and four sisters, Bernice McCarthy of Albia, Regina Roach of Russell, Helen Scieszinski of Melrose and Grace Martin of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

The funeral was 11 a.m. today (Tuesday) at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Melrose with the Rev. George Hoening officiating. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A rosary was 7 p.m. Monday at the Humeston-Gilbert Funeral Home. Memorials have been established to St. Patrick's Church and the American Cancer Society.
