Susan graduated from Perry High School, and subsequently from Mount Union College with a Bachelor of Arts in English education. A member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and the Alumni Council at Mount Union College, she was a loyal Mount Union supporter. She was employed as an English and reading teacher in Louisville City Schools until her retirement.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, accompanied the choir on piano, visited shut-ins, served Alliance Neighborhood Center dinners and participated in Adopt-A-Reader, where her efforts went above and beyond.
Survivors include her father; son, Timothy D. (Christina) Buckel of Sebring; daughters, Lindsey R. (Joel) Szymanski of Sebring and Sarah Catherine Buckel of Niles; fiancé, Bob Travis of Louisville; grandchildren, Gracie and Carson, and Micah Szymanski (who will be born in July); sister, Rebecca (Randy) Montgomery of North Canton; three brothers, Charlie (Diane) Oberholzer of North Canton, Alan (Kathe) Oberholzer of Canton and Brett (Alice) Oberholzer of Wyoming, Ohio; and seven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother; and an infant daughter, Stephanie Lynn Buckel.
Interment will be at Moultrie Chapel Cemetery.
