Stephen D. Ross was born to Joseph Harve Ross and Nancy Williams Ross in Nelson Co., KY about 1802. Some researchers say that he may have died before 1848, but records for a Stephen D. Ross can be found in Brownboro, Oldham, KY. This Stephen D. Ross appears to have married a Mary abt 1824. They had at least 3 children; William, Mary, and an unknown child. This Stephen died Dec. of 1879 from kidney disease. There was another Stephen D. Ross who received a ferry license in 1838 in Spencer County, Indiana where his brother's Thomas, William and Evan also lived. Perhaps Stephen traveled back and forth on the river or perhaps he lived and died in Spencer County, Indiana.
