When she was seven yers old, her parents immigrated to America and located at Milwaukee. From there, they went to Waconia where she grew to womanhood, received her schooling and was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. With her family she came to Douglas County in 1869, where they took a homestead in Leaf Valley.
She was married to Willard B. Ellis, who passed away in 1885. To this union five children were born: Albert of Alexandria, Willard of Leaf Valley and Mrs. Emma Quick of St. Paul. Two of their children, Fred and Charles were accidentally drowned in 1897. In 1889, she was married to Albert Wangerin to which union six children were born: Mrs. Louisa Stern of Wahpeton, North Dakota; Louis Wangerin of Perth, North Dakota, and Robert Wangerin of Effington; Theodore Wangerin of Leaf Valley and Mrs. Carl Zinter of Effington, Minn. One son Henry Wangerin died at Camp Grant, Illinois in 1918. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, Minn., Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. C. E. Hanson officiated. The five sons and one grandson (Art Ellis) acted as pallbearers. Interment was made in Kinkead cemetery.
