Obituary as published in Douglas County News, May 10, 1888:
"Mr. Wm. B. Ellis, whom we mentioned last week as having a stroke of paralysis, died early Thursday morning aged 84 years. The deceased was a native of Rhode Island and has been a resident of Leaf Valley for 22 years. He had been married twice and leaves a wife and nine children. He was buried Saturday, Rev. S. M. Wilcox of Alexandria officiating. The funeral was very largely attended." (contributed by #47962105)

Please note that the obit says "Wm" instead of Willard.
