John Emil Anderson passed away at the University hospital, Minneapolis, January 16, 1941, being at the time of his death 51 years, 11 months and 8 days. Mr. Anderson was born in Carlos township February 8, 1889. He had been in failing health for the past three years, and was taken to the hospital November 6, 1940. He apparently was doing well until complications set in and he passed away on the 16th.
He was the son of G. A. and Caroline Anderson, pioneer residents of Carlos township. He was baptized in the Swedish Lutheran church in Ida township and confirmed in the Svea Lutheran church. He grew to manhood in Carlos township, attended the Alexandria high school and later moved to Alexandria where he carried mail until 1916. In 1917 he purchased a farm in Spruce Hill township which has been his home until his death.
On June 17, 1914 he was united in marriage to Rosie Miller of Hudson townsip, and three children were born to this union; two daughters, Myrtle and Mrs. Mildred Warrings and one son Norman, all at home. Also surviving are six sisters, two brothers and one grandson, Gerald Warrings; Miss Anna Anderson of Minneapolis; Carl T. Anderson of Alexandria; Mrs. J. A. Smith, Spruce Hill; Mrs. Alma Mathews, Minneapolis; Mrs. Sigrid Olson, Osakis; Mrs. Harry Bedman, Alexandria; Alfred Anderson, Miltona township; Mrs. Walter Affeldt, Alexandria. His parents, two brothers and two sisters have preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, January 19 in the Miltona Lutheran church at 2 o'clock, being conducted by Rev. Lambert Ingwald. The pallbearers were W. F. Malm, John Bergstrom, Thor Myren, J. A. Swenson, A. J. Johnson and Cleve Olson. Interment was made in the Kinkead cemetery at Alexandria.
