Steve Batorson, 97, of 1200 E. College Ave. died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at McLean County Nursing Home.

Born Sept. 12, 1906, in Hungary, he married Elizabeth Prochazka on Oct. 19, 1935, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Richard (and Jeanne) of Normal; one daughter, Diane (and Charles) Lueth of New Jersey; two brothers, George (and Elaine) of Decatur and Louis (and Helen) of Sandwich; and two sisters, Elorne Bieritz of Aurora and Margaret Devick of Yorkville.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

He was a graduate of Bradley University, where he was a Hall of Fame athlete in baseball and track.

He was a field engineer at LeTourneau-Westinghouse in Peoria for 35 years.

Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
