Stephen Batorson (Istvan Botorcsan) was born to George and Florence (Costusine) Botorcsan in Nagy Karoly, Hungary (NOTE: After 1918, Nagy Karoly was ceded to Rumania and renamed Carei). He spent his boyhood years in Nagy Karoly, where he met and married Julianna Szabo on February 26, 1905. To this marriage was born six sons and four daughters.

Stephen came to America in 1909 to find a new home. His wife and son, Steve, Jr., joined him in November 1912, and they settled in Plano, IL. He was employed for many years at Federal Huber in Plano.

Steve was survived by three daughters, Mrs. Walter (Elorn) Bieritz of Yorkville, IL, and Margaret and Anna Batorson of Plano; four sons, Steve (Elizabeth) Batorson of Peoria, IL; and Louis, George, and Joseph Batorson of Plano; and one infant granddaughter, Diane Judith Batorson.

Two sons and one daughter preceded him in death. A son and daughter, Josepth and Elizabeth, died in infancy and are buried in Carei, Rumania. His son, Alex, died in Plano on July 23, 1927, and is buried in St. Patricks Cemetery in Bristol, IL.

Stephen had been in failing health since 1938. He developed pneumonia and was confined to bed on Tuesday, December 17, 1940. The pneumonia caused his death at 3:00 PM on Friday, December 20, 1940.

Funeral services were held on 1:30 PM, Sunday, December 22nd at the Cooper Funeral Home in Plano, IL, with Father Then officiating.

Burial was beside his son, Alex, at St. Patricks Cemetery in Bristol, IL.
