Daniel J. Pinkney, son of the late John Henry and Luella Scurry Pinkney, was born on February 14, 1915 in Newberry, South Carolina. He attended Newberry public schools and served his country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army (Tech 4). A Trenton resident for over 44 years, Daniel was a member of the Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his wife Rosebud Crossland Pinkney; five brothers John, Emanuel Muhammad, William, Colie, and Alfred Pinkey; six sisters Lucinda Sheppard, Maryam Muhammad, Benny Lee Murphy, Ethel Taylor, Rosabelle Oden, and Nancy Yates; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, August 31, 1983. at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church officiated by Rev. Leon Gipson, Pastor and under the funeral direction of Hughes Funeral Home, Trenton, New Jersey.
