Afton - John E. Truslow, 75, of Route 2, Afton, died Tuesday afternoon (Feb 7, 1989) at his residence. He was born in Nelson Co. on March 28, 1913, a son of Everett B. and Minnie Carter Truslow. He was a retired farmer and an avid hunter and fisherman. His wife, Lorene Truslow, died in 1969. Surviving are a daughter, Virginia Haney of Afton; four brothers, Dennett Trulsow of Ruckersville, Hampton Truslow of Faber, Jessie Truslow of Afton and Cloudy Truslow of Richmond; five sisters, Barbara Shea and Dolly Mohler, both of Afton, Mary Scott of Oklahoma, Lucille Slagle of Waynesboro and Lola Bryant of Faber; and three grandchildren. A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Waynesboro chapel of Etter General Home by the Rev. John Chafee, with burial in Augusta Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be William Lanahan, Delmus Truslow, Rodney Truslow, Howe Truslow, Hartwell Truslow and John H. Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews. The family requests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of Mrs. Dot Rosenberger, P.O. Box 628, Waynesboro, Va. 22980 or to the Rockfish Valley Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the funeral home.
