James Gurney Van Eaton, 83, of Rt. 1, Box 62, Eatonville, died Friday at his home. He was born in Harrison County, Iowa, and came to Eatonville 26 years ago.
Mr. Van Eaton was a hydraulic dredger and had charge of the Duwamish River dredge and also worked at Longview, Seattle, Alaska and California.
Mr. Van Eaton and his wife, Vivian Lee, would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in November.
Besides his wife, surviving are two sons, King Russell, of La Selva Beach, Calif., and James Dillard, of San Jose, Calif.; two brothers, Dr. Harry Van Eaton, of Wenatchee, and Dr. Ben Van Eaton, of Yakima; two sisters, Mrs. Lorena Nutley and Dr. Claire Van Eaton, both of Yakima; and a granddaughter, Mrs. Harold Sonsala, of Tacoma.
