Challie Frederick (Bud) Landers, 82, of Taylorville, Illinois died on October 31, 2005 in St. Vincent's Memorial Hospital.
He was born the son of Omar Lawrence and Mary Louise (Dorst-O'Brien) Landers on January 30, 1923 in Nokomis, Illinois. He first married Mary Young and they divorced, he married Shirley Taylor on August 6, 1946 in Taylorville. He was a supervisor at Lee Norris and Bodendick. He at one time restored cars and did an exccellant job painting them. He also enjoyed camping at Lake Taylorville. After his retirement, he mowed lawns. He served in the US Army in World War II. He was wounded in France and was a sharp shooter with the infantry.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley, sons, Gerald (Gary) (Patricia) and Scott (Dorothy(Dottie) Landers both of Taylorville. His daughter Rebecca (Becky) (Robert) Nelson of Taylorville. Grandchildren, Bobbi,Terry & Debbie Landers, Mike and Lance Nelson, Adam,Taylor & Cole Landers and Tahnee and Derek Landers and 7 great grand children. His brother Harry Landers of Taylorville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, great grandson Lane Nelson, son Charles Landers of Spokane, Washington, sisters Capitola Walker, Ruth Adomitis and Myrtle Hadley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Rev. Gerald McPhillips officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on November 2, 2005.
