Shirley Ann Landers passed away at Meadow Manor Nursing Home May 25, 2019 at 5:35 p.m. She was born at the old St. Vincent's Hospital September 14, 1926, a daughter of Herbert Sr. and Inez (Hawkins) Taylor. She married Challie F. (Bud) Landers on August 6, 1946 in Taylorville. He preceded her in death on October 31, 2005. She worked as a nurse aid at Meadow Manor . She loved playing bunco and bingo and an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs. She took her last breath after the Cubs won today ( May 25). Surviving are her sister Elizabeth Hulse of San Jose, California and her daughter Rebecca (Becky) and her husband Robert (Bob) Nelson of Taylorville and son Scott and his wife Dorothy (Dottie) Landers of Taylorville. Daughter in law Patricia Rachel Landers, former daughter in laws, Denise Winter and Sue Hunt all of Taylorville. Grandchildren, Roberta (Bobbi) and her husband Marvin Gomez of Broomfield, Co., Deborah (Debbie) and her husband Joshua of Taylorville, Mike and his wife Christie Nelson of Taylorville, Lance and his wife Sarah Nelson of Chatham, Illinois, Adam and his wife Lexi Landers , Taylor Landers and her companion Tommy Skinner and Cole Landers all of Taylorville. Great grandchildren Taryn Landers of Oregon, Paige Gomez of Arizona, Shaylee Furgeson of North Dakota, Austin Totten, Lucas and ALexander Stephens of Taylorville, Connor and Kiley Nelson of Taylorville, Kyler Nelson and Gabby Williams of Chatham, Beau and Maverick Landers of Taylorville, great great grandson Carter Patterson, Chatham, Il. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Challie (Bud), son Gerald (Gary) Landers, grandson Terrence (Terry) Landers, great grandson Lane Nelson, great granddaughter Remiann Landers, step son Charles (Chuck) Landers, brothers Herbert Jr., Charles Everett and Darrell Taylor, sisters Dorothy Taylor and Betty Mundhenke.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral Service will follow the visitation starting at 10:30 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Tiney Walker officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL at 12:00 Noon. Pall bearers are Mike Nelson, Lance Nelson, Adam Landers, Kyler Nelson, Cole Landers with Alexander Stephens, Beau Landers and Maverick Landers are honorary bearers.
