Harry W. Landers, 90, Taylorville, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Taylorville, IL.

Harry Landers was born on September 22, 1921, in Morrisonville, to Omar and Louise (Dorst) Landers. He first married Mildred Haynes,
they divorced. He married Stella P. (Walker) Reber on November 13, 1952 in Peoria, IL. She preceded him in death on October 22, 1996.

He was retired from the Taylorville Park District. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force who served in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. He served in France and Italy during WWII as a Corporal. While serving in Europe, he received 5 Bronze Stars for his actions. He was promoted to Sergeant and served in Korea. He enjoyed horses and horse racing. He also enjoyed coon hunting and watching baseball.

Harry was survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, sister in law, Shirley Landers of Taylorville, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Omar and Mary Louise Landers, wife, Stella (Walker) Landers, son, Harry "Sonny" Landers, brother, Challie Landers, sisters, Captola Walker, Myrtle Hadley and Ruth Adomitis; and grandson Donald J. Garmon, nephews Gerald and Charles Landers and Richard Hadley, niece Margaret Hadley, great nephew Terrence Landers and great great nephew Lane Michael Landers.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Sutton Memorial in Taylorville with Pastor Chad Foster officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield with full Military Honors.
