Last Rites for Roy Cooper
Funeral services for Roy Cooper who died last Wednesday at his home at Hartley, were held Saturday afternoon. May 17, at the Church of Christ in Sutherland, Rev. W. O. Daley of Cherokee officiating. Mrs. Martin Krekow and Mrs. Phillip Jordan, with Mrs. Otis Hulser at the piano, sang favorite selections of the deceased.

Pall bearers wore Leigh Drake, Lum Brown of Mason City, Jim Sears, Henry Wiese, Freeman Gonnerman and Harry Kruger, all of Hartley. Interment was in Waterman cemetery.

1879 - ROY A. COOPER - 1341
Roy A. Cooper, son of John and Amelia Cooper, was born on a farm three miles north of Sutherland on March 14, 1879, being at the time of his death, 62 years and 2 months old. He passed away at his home at Hartley Wednesday afternoon May 14 at 4 o'clock.

He had been in failing health for the past three years. All was done for him that helping hands could do, but all failed him.

On March 14, 1900 he was married to Eva Rausch of Milford Iowa. He moved on the farm that spring and has farmed and lived his entire life in O'Brien county.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and eight children, Mrs. Jake Stanley, Robert and Delbert of Hartley, Clarence and Walter of Paullina, Glen of Spencer, Mrs. James Williamson and Miss Laura of Fairfield. Also ten sisters and brothers survive; they are Mrs. T. J. Kennedy of Cherokee, Henry of Leech Lake, Minn., Earl of Creston, Montana, Albert of Peterson, Mrs. Math Noethe, Mr. Ray Moore, and Mrs. Leo Phillips, all of Sutherland, Mrs. Herman Johannsen of Long Beach, Calif Mrs. Eber Salzer of Hartley and Orlow of Cherokee. His step-mother, Mrs. Myrtle Cooper of Sutherland, his uncle Charles Cooper of Hartley and eleven grandchildren also mourn his death.

His father, mother and two brothers, Charles and Owen, preceded him in death.

He was baptized in the Church of Christ at Sutherland, January 25, 1925. He was a kind and loving father and husband.
