Mrs. Helen Jewett Dies at Shirland; Rites Are Tuesday
Shirland. - Mrs. Helen Jewett, a resident of Shirland and vicinity all her life, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the home of her foster daughter, Mrs. Everett Sharp. Mrs. Jewett was 83 years old.
She was born north of Shirland, Jan. 20, 1854, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Miller. She was married to Brittan Jewett, June 9, 1898. They lived in Harrison until the death of Mr. Jewett in December, 1927, when Mrs. Jewett went to live Shirland to make home with Mrs. Sharp.
Mrs. Jewett was an active member of the Shirland Methodist Episcopal church. She sang in the choir for 15 years.
She was the youngest of 12 children. A sister, Mrs. Henrietta Robinson, who lived at the home of Mrs. Sharp the last three years of her life, died in 1936.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Shirland Methodist church. The Rev. Samuel Pollack will officiate. Burial will be in the Shirland cemetery.
