James W. Atkinson, who was born in Sedalia, 5 Nov. 1899, to John and Agnes (Hayhurst) Atkinson, died yesterday at Bothwell Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Angealia (Manker) Atkinson, whom he married 9 Mar. 1922; a grand daughter of the home, and a son, of Fort Worth, Tex. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Glenn Cox and a brother, Arthur Atkinson, both of Sedalia.

He was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church and had been a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge A.F. and A.M., and the Sedalia Lions Club. A former commissioner on the Sedalia 12-mile Road District, he also served as Pettis County surveyor and engineer and as city engineer of Sedalia. He owned and operated the Atkinson Construction Company from 1945 to 1968.
