Funeral services for Walter Folden, which were scheduled for today (Monday) at 2 p.m., at the Evangelical Free church in Newfolden, have been postponed, due to the blocked roads. The new time of services has not been set. When set, Rev. Earl Eveland will officiate. Vocal selections will be duets by Mrs. Leslie Folden and Mrs. Rodney Leidberg. Mrs. Caroll Lindstrom will be the organist. Interment will be in Folden cemetery. The Green Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Howard Folden, Norman Folden, Leslie Folden, Ronald Hanson, Morris Hanson and John Lockstad.
Walter Folden was born Feb. 3, 1906 in Newfolden to T.B. and Amelia Folden, now deceased. He attended school and grew to manhood in the Newfolden community. Later he worked at Boston, Mass.; Toledo, Ohio; and also at Devils Lake, N.D. During World War II, he served with the Merchant Marines.
In 1946, he opened a restaurant in Newfolden. He operated the restaurant until 1963, when he sold it. After that, he worked in Minneapolis and later at St. Louis, Mo. For the last few years, he had made his home in Thief River Falls. He was a member of the Eagles.
He never married.
Surviving are two brothers; Bergman Folden, Newfolden; and Edward of Edmonds, Wash.; four sisters, Mrs. Jennie Hutchinson, Ashton, S.D.; Mrs. Doris Harris, Decater, Ill.; Mrs. Torrey (Alma) Johnson, New London, Conn.; and Mrs. Mabel Hanson of Newfolden; and several nieces and nephews.
