Rites held for Amelia Folden Here Friday

Pioneer Holt lady laid to rest following funeral services at Newfolden church.

Amelia Berg was born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, May 19, 1879. At an early age she moved with her parents to Everts, Minnesota in Otter Tail county where her father engaged in farming. When eight years old, she moved to Holt township with her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Halvor Ness. On December 22, 1896, she was united in marriage to T.B. Folden. They homesteaded 5 ½ miles southeast of Newfolden where she resided until the time of her death.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Berg; her husband and 3 sons: Hilmer, Johnny and Lawrence, and one sister, Mrs. Annette Edwards.

Surviving are nine children, all of whom were present for the funeral services; Bergman of Holt, Walter of Newfolden, Arnold of Perry, Iowa, Arvid of Devils Lake, Edward of Litchveld, Jennie (Mrs. C. W. Hutchison) of Aberdeen, S.D.; Mabel (Mrs. Edward Hanson) of Morrisonville, Illinois; and Alma (Mrs. Torrey Johnson of New London, Conn. [Doris Harris] Also twenty-five grandchildren, one brother, Johnny Berg, of Battle Lake; nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.

She has lived a consistent Christian life from girlhood and this relationship with her Savior became more precious with the years. May her memory ever be blessed.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, June 6, in Newfolden at the Evangelical Free church, Rev. E. J. Vick and Rev. Thv. Myhrer officiating. Special songs were sung by Rev. L. W. Lindholm and Mrs. Gordon Stokke of Thief River Falls and Verna and Elvida Sollom of Newfolden. Rev. J. O. Jacobson of Thief River Falls and Rev. L. Jackson Derby of Kenosha, Wis., also had part in the service. Pallbearers were Edwin Ness, Norman Folden, Victor Magnusson, John Ness, Harold Ness and Victor Hendrickson. Interment was made in the Ridge cemetery, southeast of Newfolden.

Arrangements were by the Les Funeral Service of Newfolden.
