Bergman Folden was born April 28, 1898, in Holt Township, Marshall County, the son of Theodore and Ammalia (Berg) Folden. He attended Pioneer School in Holt Township and he worked as a farm hand in the Argyle, Minn., and Warren, Minn., area and for Smiley Dredge Co. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War I and he attended Agriculture College, St. Paul. He married Thorbjor Aslakson Dec. 23, 1923, in Bemidji, and they lived in Holt Township. The couple moved in 1934 to Newfolden Township, Marshall County, and they retired in 1962. His wife, Thorbjor, died in 1968. He moved in 1993 to Valley Home, Thief River Falls.
He is survived by sons Donovan, Pelican Rapids, Minn., Howard, Leslie and Eugene, all of Newfolden; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward, Detroit Lakes, Minn., and sisters Mabel Hanson, Newfolden, and Alma (Mrs. Torry) Johnson, Waterford, Conn.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, a granddaughter, six brothers and two sisters.
Services: 4 p.m. Tuesday in Evangelical Free Church, Newfolden. Visitation: 2 to 9 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service in Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, and one hour before services in the church. Burial: Folden Cemetery, Newfolden Township.
