Ambrose "Al" Abert, 77, of Nedrow, died Thursday. Born in Syracuse, he worked for the Syracuse Police Department from 1950-1970. He was the recipient of the Francis Hendricks Heroism Medal and retired at the rank of Sergeant. After retirement from the police department, he worked for Niagara Mohawk as a technician from 1970-199, retiring in 199. He was a WWII Navy veteran.
Survivors: His wife of 56 years, the former Charlotte Ann Cosselman; three daughters, two sons, one sister, a brother, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina St. Burial, Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
