Old family records say John was born in 1793, his Headstone states he was 73 when he died. Whoever ordered the Headstone must have made an error.

John Seigle Estrick / Eastright was born in Ohio County, Virginia (became West Virginia on June 20, 1863) on January 4, 1793, to Patrick Willis and (wife unknown) Estrick. John changed the spelling of our last name from Estrick to Eastright in the late 1840s. His brothers changed the spelling to either Eastright or Estright. John married Mary Sarah Faushey on October 1872 in Allegheny Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania (later became Blair County in 1846). Sarah, as her family and friends called her, was born in Cambria County, Pennsylvania on March 4, 1808. There is no other information on Sarah's parents. I believe the last name is spelled wrong. I believe the correct spelling should be Forshey. John worked as a laborer on a farm in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. In January 1862, John, going by the last name Eastright, joined a group of men who walked from Cambria County, Pennsylvania to Camp Curtin near Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania to serve in the Civil War. The cut-off age for enlistment was 45 and all 73 men were over the age of 60. The officer in charge, Captain William Palmer, let them stay until they broke camp in March 1862. The captain named them "The Silver Gray Soldiers". There is no information on Sarah's death. I am wondering if she died during or after having her last child, Anna Catherine for John's brother Samuel and his wife Betsy, raised Anna. All the children were born with the Estrick name except for, Anna Catherine. She was the first child born with the Eastright name. John died on January 1, 1873, in Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania. He is buried at Collinsville Cemetery in Altoona. John and Mary had seven children.
