E OSTERKAMP DIES FOLLIWNG BRIEF ILLNESS
Ernest Osterkamp, 75, died at his home near Anamosa Tuesday Sept. 18, 1973 after a brief illness.
He was born in Bisdorf, Fehmarn, Germany, March 8, 1898, the son of Johann Dietrich and Caroline Scharf Osterkamp. He came to this country in 1914 at the age of 16 and made his home in Wayne township, Jones county. In 1918 he waa married to Anna Gross and they were the parents of four children Edna, Freda, Wilma and Henry. Anna Gross Osterkamp preceded him in death in 1922. In 1924 he was married to Emma Christiansen; they have made their home in Jones county farming for the past several years south of Anamosa.
Mr. Osterkmap is survived by his wife, Emma and ten children, Edna, Mrs. Steve Yonker of Muskegan, Mich.; Freda, Mrs. Marvin Wood of San Jose, Calif.; Wilma, Mrs. Raymond Thompson of Iowa City; Ivan of Anamosa; Emma, Mrs. William Wright of West Branch; Clarence of Anamosa; Mrs. Caroline Kray of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Florence Kula of Anamosa; Delores, Mrs. Richard Rickels of Anamosa and Ronald of Anamosa. Also surviving are 41 grand and 15 great grandchildren, a sister Mrs. John Boysen of Monticello and a brother Nick Osterkamp of Davenport.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded to death by a son, Henry in 1968, one sister and four brothers, and a great granddaughter who died the same day as Mr. Osterkamp.
Funeral services were held at the Wayne Zion Lutheran church Friday, Sept. 21, 1973 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Harvey 0. Gilberson officiating. Interment was in the Wayne Zion cemetery.
Casket bearers were Bobby Wright, David Kray, Larry Osterkamp, Ernie Osterkamp, Lonald Osterkamp, and Larry Yonker.
