James Boyd died yesterday afternoon shortly before 2 o'clock, following a paralytic stroke on November 26th. He had been in ill health, but was able to enjoy Thanksgiving day at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Floyd Schramm. Mr. Boyd was 85 years and 17 days of age, having been born in Sparta, Ill., on November 22, 1852.
Mr. Boyd was married April 10, 1873, at Nevada, Mo, to Miss Mary A. Bickett and they resided near that city for about twenty years. They then moved to Randolph County, Illinois. They later moved to Jacksonville where they resides for the past 28 years. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary last April.
Besides his wife, Mary A., Mr. Boyd is survived by four daughters: Mrs. G. W. McDevitt, of Loami; Mrs. Lena B. Harris, of Highand Park; Mrs. Margaret Edmiston, of Pekin; and Mrs. Floyd Schramm, of Loami; and two sons, John H., of Woodson; and Leonard G., of Springfield. Other surviving relatives are two sisters, Mrs. Jane Taylor and Mrs. Margaret Anderson, both of Sparta; twenty grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Swift Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock. Burial was in East cemetery.
