Lawrence Paul Berndt, 62, of Waverly died Thursday, December 6, 1990 apparently of smoke inhalation from a fire at his residence.
He was born December 16, 1927, in Morgan county, a son of the late Leonard and Ella Baggerly Berndt.
He is survived by a son, Ralph of Springfield; a sister, Norma Lacey of Jacksonville; two brothers, Donald of Waverly and Darrel Dean of Arlington, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Berndt was retired from the U.S. Army and National Guard and was a farm worker.
Graveside services were held Sunday, December 16, 1990 for Lawrence P. Berndt, 62, of Waverly who died Thursday, December 6, in a home fire.
Mr. Berndt was a graduate of Waverly High School. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict and was in the military for 33 years.
Rev. Bryan Siverly, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Waverly, officiated at services, and an Honor Guard from the Waverly American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts conducted military rites.
Remains were cremated.
