Mrs. Ethel M. Kigar, 79, of 301 W. Grout St., Gladwin, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 1992, in the Mid Michigan Regional Medical Center, Midland, after a long illness.

Born in Buckeye Township, May 27, 1912, she had spent her lifetime here. She was co-owner of Don's Market from 1932 to 1971. Mrs. Kigar was a member of the Gladwin First United Methodist Church and a member of the Women's Loyalty Circle. She attended County Normal School and taught at the Arbutus School prior to her marriage.

The former Ethel McMahon, she was married to Donald Kigar on Dec. 24, 1931, in Gladwin. He preceded her in death July 20, 1988.

Surviving are one son, Willard (Bill) of Gladwin; 4 daughters, Mrs. Dante (Donna Lee) Costanzo of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Mrs. Charles (Jeanie) Engel of Beverly Hills, Calif., Mary Jo Hillman of Gladwin and Jan JelteS of Zeeland; 3 brothers, Clarence McMahon of Gladwin, Dale McMahon of Houghton Lake and Don McMahon of Sarnia, Ont.; one sister, Mrs. Marjorie Riegler of Bay City; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, James and Roger McMahon and a sister, Thelma Taylor.

Services were held today, Wednesday, at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev. Joel Hurley officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the Gladwin Pines Nursing Home Residents' Activity Fund. Gladwin County Record dated 2-5/1992.
