Roger Earl McMahon, 62, well known Tobacco Township farmer, died Sunday, Sept. 6, in the Bay Medical Center following a short illness. Born in Tobacco Township on August 14, 1919, he had spent his lifetime here. A veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II, he was active in farm organizations and civic affairs. He played baseball, softball and bowled. Mr. McMahon was a member of the Beaverton Church of the Brethren and was serving as a trustee.
Mr. McMahon was married to the former Dorothy Geer on May 25, 1940, in Beaverton. Besides his wife, he is survived by 3 daughters, Grace Stittsworth of Farwell, Mrs. Roger (Gail) Strong of Merrill and Mrs. Ray (Glenna) Rappley of Midland; 3 brothers, Clarence of Gladwin, Dale of Houghton Lake and Don of Sarnia, Ont.; 3 sisters, Mrs. Ethel Kigar of Gladwin, Mrs. Marjorie Riegler of Bay City and Mrs. Grace Hawley of Drayton Plains; 8 granddaughters and 2 great granddaughters.
Services were held today, Wednesday, at 1 p.m. from the Beaverton Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Henry List and the Rev. Henry List and the Rev. Arthur Whisler officiated and burial was in the Dale Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Hall Funeral Home. Gladwin County Record dated 09-09/1981 Column- 4 Page - 2
