Howard, was born to Henry and Alice (Holifield) Belcher. He united in marriage to Leona Hill in September 1927. Six children were born to this union. He farmed in Columbiana, Alabama until 1971 when he relocated to Fort Wayne where he operated a grocery store @ the corner of Creighton and Winter Streets (to be near his children) until he retired.
Survivors include his wife, Leona; four sons, Howard Jr, Amos, Gilbert and Larry Belcher of Fort Wayne, IN and two daughters, Alberta Williams and Gladys Datcher of Los Angeles, CA; 28 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, two brothers, Addie of South Bend, Huriah of Tuscaloosa.; five sisters, Muggie Collins, Helen Belcher and Birdie Porter and Clara Thompson all of Birmingham and Zora Mason of Chicago.
